Weddington's Town Council Meets Today. How Do I Follow What Affects My Home?

You can follow what affects your Weddington home by checking the town's meeting calendar, reading the agenda before each meeting, and showing up or writing in when something touches your street. The Weddington Town Council holds its regular meeting today, Monday, October 12, 2026, from 7 to 9 PM at Town Hall.

Quick Answer: The Weddington Town Council meets October 12 at 7 PM at Town Hall, and the town's calendar also lists a Notice of Public Hearing for the same time. Owners and buyers can follow decisions by reading posted agendas and minutes on the town's website. Jennifer Ledford of The Ledford Group at eXp Realty suggests checking the agenda before you list or make an offer.

I'm Jennifer Ledford with The Ledford Group at eXp Realty. Weddington is one of my lead markets, and I'd rather you hear about a local decision from the town than from a neighbor over the fence. A quick note: I have not seen today's agenda, so I won't guess at what the council will take up.

What is on the Weddington calendar this month?

Here's what the town's website lists as of today:

- Monday, October 12, 7 to 9 PM: Regular Town Council meeting at Town Hall.

- Monday, October 12, 7 to 9 PM: A Notice of Public Hearing at Town Hall. The calendar does not say what the hearing covers.

- Monday, October 19, 6 to 8 PM: The second public engagement meeting on a possible Town Hall Park. The town says its consultant, LaBella, will report on resident feedback.

- Monday, October 26, 6 to 6:45 PM: A Board of Adjustment hearing on a variance request.

How do I read a town agenda without a law degree?

Look for four kinds of items. Rezonings and zoning text changes can affect what gets built near you. Variances and special use requests affect a single property, but they can set a pattern. Road and safety items change how you drive. Budget and tax items change what you pay.

The town also asked residents for transportation safety feedback in September. If you drive Weddington's roads every day, that is an easy place to speak up.

Public hearings are the formal moment when residents can be heard. If one is posted, the notice usually says the topic. If the notice is vague, call Town Hall and ask what it covers.

Does a Town Hall Park change what my home is worth?

I don't know, and I would not trust anyone who says they do. The town has asked for input and has a second meeting October 19. Nothing I have seen sets a design, a cost, or a start date.

What I can tell you is what buyers ask. They want to know what is planned within a mile, and they want to know before they close. If you are selling, be ready to answer that honestly. If you are buying, ask.

What should I do if I'm selling a Weddington home this fall?

Know what is on the calendar near your home before a buyer asks. A buyer who learns about a hearing from a neighbor after the inspection may start to wonder what else they missed.

Then price off real sales, not hopes. Charlotte-area closed sales were down 8.7% in August from a year earlier and inventory was up 7.1%, according to Canopy Realtor Association data reported. That is regional, not Weddington alone. A good price on day one matters in a market like that.

What should I do if I'm buying?

Ask your agent to check the town's agendas and the Union County planning pages for the street you are considering. It takes a few minutes and it prevents surprises.

Then spend a Saturday there. Weddington Optimist Park, with its 50 acres of youth sports fields, shows you how the community uses its space. Weddington Swim & Racquet Club gives you a look at the social side. Check which schools serve the address with the district, because Weddington High, Weddington Middle, and Ardrey Kell High assignments can change.

Where do I find agendas and minutes?

The town's website, townofweddington.com, has the calendar and an Agendas & Minutes page. Agendas are usually posted before the meeting. Minutes follow after the next meeting approves them.

If you can't attend, you can still read. That alone puts you ahead of most buyers I meet.

Frequently asked questions
